Courtney Barbour

Courtney Barbour is an associate at Barteaux Durnford Employment and Labour Lawyers. Her law practice is focused on representing employers who need practical, timely solutions for managing their employees and Human Resources issues. She takes pride in working with small and medium business owners to design workplace policies and employment agreements that keep their businesses running smoothly.

Courtney articled in Halifax with a full-service, Atlantic Canadian law firm where she gained experience in advocacy and litigation, contract drafting, and conducting workplace investigations. Before law, Courtney worked as a contracts administrator for a multinational oil and gas services company in her home province of Newfoundland and Labrador. She is a member of the Canadian Association of Counsel to Employers, the Employment Law Alliance, and the Canadian Bar Association Nova Scotia Labour and Employment section.

Jane Clark

Jane Clark

Jane Clark is Vice President, Member Services for NationaLease. In this position, she is focused on managing the Member Services operation, as well as working to strengthen member relationships, reduce member costs, and improve collaboration within the NationaLease supporting groups. Prior to joining NationaLease, Jane served as Area Vice President for Randstad, one of the world’s largest recruitment agencies, and before that, she served in management posts with QPS Companies, Pro Staff, and Manpower, Inc. Jane received a B.A. degree in Communication from North Central College and an M.A. in Communication from Northern Illinois University.

Dawn Desjardins

Vice President and Deputy Chief Economist, RBC

Dawn Desjardins

Dawn Desjardins joined the RBC Economics team in January 2006. She is a key contributor to the macroeconomic forecasts for Canada and the U.S. and is part of a team that is responsible for the interest rate forecasts for both countries. Dawn delivers economic analysis to RBC’s clients through a variety of publications and presentations. She is often interviewed by media from across North America to discuss developments in the economy and financial markets.

Prior to joining RBC, Dawn worked as a reporter for Bloomberg Financial News in Toronto covering the Canadian bond and currency markets and was the Canadian bond market strategist for a major U.S. bank for ten years. She is a graduate of the University of Toronto.

Donald Dodge

Donald Dodge believes in ensuring that businesses are aware of the savings, and related business advantages that are realized from partnering with Efficiency Nova Scotia. Donald recently completed work with Ikea Canada on their new 300,000 square foot store in Halifax that will be the most sustainable retail business in North America.

Donald has worked in the energy industry his whole career. He began as a geophysical technician in Calgary, a Home Energy Specialist, first as an equipment sales agent, and then as a Certified Energy Evaluator and trainer. Donald is a graduate of Acadia University with a Bachelor of Business Administration.

Robert Garcia, Vice President of New Business Development, Supply Management, focuses on providing competitive advantage through strengthened supplier relationships, reduced cost, and improved supplier accountability throughout NationaLease supply chain programs. Rob brings an accomplished background in product line management with market analysis expertise. Rob’s professional experience includes several years spent as Division Director of Purchasing with Masterpiece Homes in Orlando, Florida, where he was responsible for all purchasing, supplier negotiations, and supply management activities. Rob also served 9 years as Senior Operations Manager for Ryder Transportation Services where he was responsible for managing vehicle operation centers, marketing, and financial activities. Rob earned a BA and MBA - Finance, from the University of Miami.

With over 40 years in the transportation industry, Dwayne has served as a Business Development Consultant to the PIT Group for the past year and a half. He provides expertise and total consulting services to fleets, OEMs, suppliers, manufacturers, and all related parties through his consulting company. With this combination, he heads up the value added side of PIT Group with the providing of Fleet Efficiency Review Service.

Anita’s social media experience extends all the way back to the 90s, when she joined the first generation of bloggers, launching a crafting blog in a flurry of cardstock, buttons, and fabric swatches. She promoted it using new-at-the-time marketing tactics like blog circles, link parties, and roundups.

A few years later, Anita left her communications job and embarked on a mission to conquer the brave new world of digital communications—and Twirp Communications was, um… hatched. Since 2011, she’s been helping businesses and agencies improve their social skills through social media consultations, training sessions, and profile audits. She’s also the pioneer behind Responsible Scheduling—a set of guidelines for scheduling posts that helps clients make the most of their content without overwhelming or ignoring their audience.

Scott Marzec

Scott Marzec, Member Programs Manager for NationaLease, is responsible for managing the multiple product and service programs available to our members. Scott has previous experience in the transportation industry, including customer management, fleet management, and sales for STI Services. He also managed the daily operations for fleet marketing company Innovation Group, and was the lead sales rep responsible for the growth of the company’s repair network.

Jordi Morgan

Jordi Morgan

Jordi Morgan is Vice-President of Atlantic at CFIB. He oversees all legislative activities and communications for the Atlantic region’s four provinces. Born and raised in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia, Jordi has a diverse background – from being a well-known media personality in radio and television, to working in legislative affairs and even running a small media business in Halifax.

Jordi brings to CFIB a passion for helping the Atlantic region become a prosperous place. His past career experience includes numerous roles for CBC throughout the 1990s, running in the 2000 federal election, and working as the Director of Parliamentary Affairs for the Minister of Human Resources and Skills Development. The broadcasting veteran of 35 years also served as Director of Communications and Development for the Atlantic Institute for Market Studies (AIMS), an economic and social policy think tank.

He firmly believes that small businesses and entrepreneurs make up the single most important sector of the economy. He is dedicated to ensuring the collective will and voice of CFIB’s members is consistently front and centre on the public agenda. He recently organized a coalition of nearly 50 business organizations in Nova Scotia to oppose federal tax changes.

Prior to joining TD, Adam practiced tax with an International firm in Halifax where he specialized in Canadian tax compliance and planning. Adam has a commerce degree from Saint Mary’s University, a Chartered Accountant designation and a Certified International Wealth Management designation along with various courses from the Canadian Securities Institute. He has completed the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants In-Depth tax course and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nova Scotia. He is also a member of the Canadian Tax Foundation and Halifax’s chapter of Young Tax Practitioners.

Jean-Marc earned his degree in Business Administration from the Université de Moncton in 1995 and has since spent the last 21 years in the Transportation and Logistics sector in different capacities.

Jean-Marc started his career at CNRail in Marketing where he spent 8 years. He then joined a major fertilizer manufacturer in Calgary where he managed their transportation department. In 2007, he returned to Atlantic Canada and joined Cavendish Agri as Director of Logistics. He then joined the Atlantic Provinces Trucking Association in 2010 as the Executive Director. In addition, he sits on the Board of Directors for Canadian Trucking Alliance, Trucking Human resource sector council and Atlantic Chamber of Commerce.

Dean was named President of NationaLease in 2012 and has been with the company since 2005. At that time, he was part of the National Account team in the Midwest, where he helped grow the National Account Program to more than $447 million in term sales. In 2008, he became Vice President of Member Services, executing a strategy that provided a sustainable competitive advantage to NationaLease Members and growing the membership base. In 2010, Dean became Vice President of National Accounts, leading that team, in 2011, to a record-breaking year in sales.
